It’s Saturday morning and we are all tired and a little crabby today. I’m going on a work trip tomorrow and I think it has all four of us just a little edgy. Juliet told me she didn’t want mini muffins, Nathaniel begged for them, Juliet changed her mind…and then grabbed her apron and decided to help.
This time I let her scoop the flour into the measuring cup all by herself.
And I had her pour it into the bowl after I leveled it off.
She also handled the baking soda, and baking powder.
Of course now that I’m looking at the picture, I can see that she was secretly stacking ingredients again when I wasn’t looking.
She added the sugar, and did some whisking.
She loves to be the one to crack the egg.
While she was busy mixing, Nathaniel was fixing the wooden catapult he made last week.
And then I got the batter into the mini muffin cups.
And they came out great. I think this may have been one of the best batches yet. I assume it’s because of the mad skillz of my 4-year-old.
Of course we added some some soon-to-be-scarce-or-insanely-expensive maple syrup for dipping.
I’m not sure that took the edge of anyone’s mood today, but it bought us about fifteen minutes of sweetness. I’ll take it.
