Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Squares
Juliet has been asking for these, and they really don’t take very long, and it had been well over twelve hours since I made anything. It was time to make it so.
This time I tried doing some photos along the way, not that anybody actually needs detailed instructions on how to make these. I just wanted to try to do it the way real food bloggers do.
The recipe I found has all the action happening in the microwave, but I just do it on the stove.
It only takes four ingredients, three of which you see here. The butter is already waiting in the pan. Oh, and don’t forget the iPad, I like to have instructions nearby. (Okay, I’m the one who likes step-by-step pictures.)
First, you melt the butter (1 tablespoon) and the peanut butter (2/3 cup, I used Skippy Natural Creamy because it’s better than all the others, ever).
Once that was smooth, I added the entire bag of mini marshmallows, and started to stir. I wanted to just stop stirring and start eating at that point. I didn’t.
And when that looked melted and smooth, in went the insane-looking amount of Rice Krispie cereal. It looked so wrong, this is the point where I always think I made a mistake about how much to add in. But I’m always wrong. Or right, rather.
That’s a knife at the bottom, I had to keep scraping the spoon I was using to stir.
And then I used Paula Deen’s handy trick of spraying the bottom of a measuring cup with cooking spray to flatten whatever it is you’re making. This stuff is really sticky, so it’s the only thing that could’ve done the job.
And once it was done, I let Juliet pry all the sticky stuff off the spoon. She did a great job of it.
